Hello everyone!I made this card for Winnie and Walter's Second Birthday Bash. I created the background by watercoloring a piece of Daler Rowney 300gsm cold pressed water color paper and embossing is with a We R Memory Keepers Next Level Embossing Folder. I just love the amazing dimension the embossing adds to the background.
I diecut the "Hi" with some white cardstock and distress it with Abandoned Coral distress ink. I also diecut the "Hi" 3 times with black cardstock and layered the below the coral colored diecut.

Sharing another card for the Essentials by Ellen Mix it up January Challenge. I've used the Patterned Triangle  Background Stamp from MFT and the Be-you-tiful die from Essentials by Ellen.
I first stamped and heat embossed the background and then colored it with distress inks. I then die-cut the sentiment on the background and also with some black cardstock and inlayed the black die-cut into the background to create a one layer card. I finished my card by adding some clear sequins by pretty pink posh.

Have you ever bought craft supplies/tools because everyone seems to be raving about them and then never use them at all (or maybe just once) once you get them....well I do it all the time, I bought a couple of sets of Gelatos last year dreaming of tons of mixed media projects I'll be doing with them (I haven't done a single one yet!)
So until I start working on a mixed media project I might as well use my Gelatos for some card making....this is what I made today...
I began by scribbling with Gelatos on a diecut piece of textured black cardstock. The colors I used were: Margarita Mix, Banana, Watermelon, Metallic Melon. Sprinkled a little water with a brush, smudged the colors with my fingers and let it dry. Added another layer of the colors and smudged it.
Finally rubbed in some Coconut Gelato using a homemade stencil with circles of different sizes.
I loved how Gelatos are opaque so they can be used to add color on dark backgrounds.
The dies are from WPlus9 and Avery Elle (Finished Frames Die).
I mounted the finished black panel on white card base like this
but it looked too dull so I colored the visible white edges with a neon pink Tombow marker....

I played along these challenges:

We had Bangalore's first Stamper's Corp a couple of weeks back, and oh what fun it was! 7 of us met up with our favorite stamps and inks and stamped away. It was an awesome experience sharing stamping tips and supplies.....   and look at all the stamping we did!

I finally stamped and colored an image after almost 2 years!! This stamp is from "Sparkle Creations" (I guess she has closed shop now) and is called "Scooter Chloe", I have had it for more than 2 years and never used it....I had such a great time coloring the image with some bright neon Tombow markers, some distress markers and some copics...my coloring skills do need some polishing but nonetheless I love how this card turned out.

Here's a peak at the "Mini Album Making Workshop" this Saturday. We had so much fun. I've discovered that I find teaching craft even more satisfying than crafting itself! Which means more workshops coming up :)

I have resolved to revive my blog and post at least thrice a week. And will also start visiting my favorite blogs again...

I am sure there is no crafter a.k.a. hobbyist in India who has not heard about Itsy Bitsy (well incase you still haven't, do check out their website here). The Store has to be one of the best things I like about living in Bangalore :P
I have been a regular shopper with them since 2009...their handmade embellishments have been my all time favorites.Another hot favorite of mine is Die Cuts with a View patterned paper stacks - they have a HUGE range
And what I like most about the store is....well of course the sales!!! With offers like 50% off on DCWV paper stacks and handmade boutique elements....who wouldn't?
So when one such awesome sale was announced by Itsy Bitsy to celebrate the opening of their new store at JP Nagar 7th Phase I knew I just had to go even if the place is 30 kms from my place, and I am sure glad I did!
 I was there at the shop, spot on at 10 am on 10th August, the opening day.
I was the first customer to get there, the opening preparations were still ongoing. I got a chance to meet the store's owners Rashmi and Harish Closepet and was pleasantly surprised when they requested me to cut the inaugural ribbon!


As soon as I stepped into the shop, aisle upon aisle of craft goodies beckoned!

I headed straight to the patterned paper rack and picked up 12 stacks of gorgeous DCWV stacks! followed by some handmade paper, Thai paper, tons of embellishments and lots more.
And while I was busy shopping to my heart's content (and burning a BIG hole in my pocket) DH kept our little one busy at the scrapbook workshop.
