Free Printable Diwali Greeting Cards

Hello everyone! I'm starting to put my newly acquired Adobe Illustrator and Indesign skills to use. I designed these printable greeting cards for Diwali.

October Challenge for Peek-a-boo Designs

Hello everyone! It's the first of October which means its time foe another fun challenge at the Peek-a-boo Designs blog! October is also the first anniversary month of the Peek-a-boo Designs so this month's challenge is extra special!
So without further ado here are the details:
October Challenge Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 1/4 cup of the color red

- 1/4 of gold as well
- Number 1 - Since we celebrate our first birthday in October

Garnishing (the twist ) : Use atleast one of the the following

- stenciling

- 3D Layered projects

- Make your own background with stamps

- dash of glitter

Directions :

Make a delicious project using all the ingredients above and adding atleast one garnish (the twist) of your choice.

Participants with a project with an Indian touch since we celebrate Diwali and other festivals in this month will get some bonus points ..

Here's my take on the Challenge -

I've used Dies and stamps from the October Release for my card. This release is just perfect for making traditional Indian designs. You can make wedding invitations, Diwali cards and much more!
I've made a wedding invitation as the colors red and gold are traditional Indian wedding colors. I've used glitter as my garnish.

Merry Christmas to a deer friend......

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you are having a great week. Sharing another Christmas card today, I've used the Toboggan Together set from Lawn Fawn for this one......just love those cute animals....I had so much fun coloring them. I used the Essentials By Ellen Bokeh Dots stamps for the snow, stamped and heat embossed in white and added blue color with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. Though not visible in the photo, the snow around the sentiment has beautiful silver shimmer.

Handmade Watercolor Diwali Card

I hope all my readers who celebrate Diwali had a great celebration last night. This was my first Diwali in Singapore and was extra special because my parents are here.

Sharing the only card I made for Diwali this year. I made the Diya with a stencil from Pie Lane and Gansai Tambi watercolors, wasn't satisfied with the results so went ahead and added some acrylic colors and highlighting with a white pen.

Handmade Rakhi cards for 2014

I just searched my blog and discovered that I hadn't made any Rakhi cards in the last couple of years and wouldn't have made any this year too if an old customer hadn't coaxed me into making some. Took me one whole Sunday of playing with colors and handmade patterned papers to come up with these......

Handmade plastic straw snowflake tutorial

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I have always been fascinated by snowflakes, even more so probably because I haven't seen any in real life :(
I tried out these super easy (and inexpensive) plastic straw snowflakes and loved the results!
You will need:

Plastic straws - mine were 8.25" long
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Fevicol / Elmer's Glue
Fine glitter / diamond dust
Scissors
Stapler

I began by flattening the straws in the center by stapling, this makes it easier to layer the straws.

Using hot glue, glue together 3 straws at their centers, making an angle of approx 60 degrees. The base of my 6 armed snowflake is ready.

Cut 12 1.5" straw pieces and make angular cuts at the ends as shown below.

Hot glue pairs of the straw pieces to make 6 "V" shapes as shown in the photo. Hot glue takes about 30-40 seconds to cool and set, you might want to lay the pieces together at the desired location, apply hot glue and let it set without disturbing.

Glue the "V"s between the arms of the snowflake.

Cut out 12 1/2" straw pieces and make angular cuts at one end.

Glue them to the snowflake tips and your snowflake is ready.
Cover the snowflake with any clear drying glue. I applied a thick layer of fevicol with a brush.

Pour glitter and let it dry....once dry, re-apply glitter over any left over patches.

I just loved how they turned out.

These would make lovely Christmas tree ornaments, since I don't have one, I covered part of my stairway wall with them, much to my husband's dismay and daughter's delight :).

Season's Greetings

Here's my first Christmas card this season, this card looks so much better IRL....too bad the photo turned out so bad :(
I used my latest craft buys - Lindy's Stamp Gang star-burst sprays and an MFT chevron stencil for the first time on the circular panel. Haven't quite got the hang of it yet, but love the result, nevertheless.
